I have a two month old baby who is not yet on a schedule. Her dad wants to take her out of town to visit grandparents who could come here. What is a good age to start traveling with her a lot?

I have 5 kids and last time I checked they are portable. It is okay to travel as long as at anytime with or without a child you do it safely. Be prepared for any emergencies. Dont worry so much she will be with her dad.

Well with kids there really is no "good" age to start traveling with a baby. Some will be better than others with traveling, and if you are going and the baby nurses then try to get her used to a bottle for the trip (like pumping breast milk). I have traveled with two small ones twice now and it wasn't hell it was pretty fun we went from NY to Houston, so it was a very looong trip. They got restless at times but nothing pulling over a few minutes couldn't solve. So I say have fun on the trip! and good luck!LOL (just kidding)

We traveled within the first two weeks, and that was a 3 hour drive. When he was 2 months old a four hour trip, and at 3 months old, an eight hour trip. Just plan on a very full car and lots of stops. travel when your baby usually sleeps the best, that is helpfull. also, check on ivillage for a great list of things to pack.

If you nurse, you're home free, just nurse on the way up, and on the way down to get her ears to pop. I would suppose the same works with a bottle, though I've never used one and no one else who HAS in my family has ever traveled further than an hour with a baby (and always by car).

But ask your pediatrician for the go-ahead on traveling.

if the grandparents can visit-and if there is no reason they cannot, they should visit now and maybe when the baby is older you can go for a visit there.

--talk to your husband about maybe postponing this trip for a few months.
if he insists and you do travel, as long as the baby is healthy and you go along and continue to breastfeed or feed the same formula as always, and keep the same sleep schedule he should be ok.

That all depends on the kid. My baby girl has always been easy to take care of and does well in the car. My little boy was hell to travel with until he was like 18 months old. (now he is a perfect angel) So it really just depends on your child.

i would say anytime after 2 months. becasue you can give them tylenole then. (my dr told me to and use a pacifier) it is easier to travel with an infant until they are mobile. so i would say travel now in peace while you can.
