To be a professional. To display professionalism. To act as a professional at work or in daily life. Showing a high degree of skill or competence.

To me, it means to do a job to the best of your ability, with attention to detail so that mistakes are kept to a minimum, and to take pride in the result. Considering my office situation at the moment, I would include spending more time on your work than on socializing.
