comet, bleach work well for the beginning. to maintain, buy denture cleaner, like polident or efferdent. drop a couple in the tank, a couple in the bowl, give a quick swish, and leave it. Smells great, bleaches the porcelain over time.
some people use cheap shampoo to maintain the bowl once it is clean.

THE WORKS for toilets. One Dollar at Dollar general and it really works great. Just be sure you have plenty of ventilation.

I use harpic toilet cleaner with bleach and bicarbonate soda. Works a treat.

leave bleach in you toilet overnight......then use a toilet blush to clean it......this should do the trick
