matches, which record is held by Sachin Tendulkar.

The general sense of consensus from the answers, seems to be, that no player has reached this target?

To be fair to the older players, I think that it should be remembered, players today take part in loads more matches.

Easier travel, commercial requirements, professional game, fitter players, are some of the reasons, I bet that you can think of others?

None of them AFAIK. I think Herby Border still holds the record with 156 unless Tugga Waugh beat him (can't check at work). Check it out for yourself at www.cricinfo.com
