I just got this new laptop. It's an Hp Pavillion dv6000 with vista. It has a built in webcam. This system came with little to no instructions. I have found out that you can access the webcam with the quickplay button or through windows live messenger, but it doesnt work all the time. I was able to use it this morning, but not now. It seems like it only works at random with either program. Any ideas?

only one program can use it at a time... if you have multiple webcam applications are open it may stop working for all of them,

also restarting when you notice it is not working may solve the problem for a short term basis

could be an Hp conflict try using their support base on their site and depending on how new it is you may want it to be checked out by a Hp tech it is prolly still under warrenty

and finally try re-installing the webcam driver, found on the backup cd that came with the laptop or on the hp website.

Vista still has a lot of bugs and you should be expecting to see a new web cam driver on hp's web site soon hopefully.
