I just installed Linux after reformatting one of my computers but my son stubbornly does not like it so I need to install windows but first I want to reformat the drive how do I do that.

Insert bootable Windows CD. Open DOS and write> format {drive letter}
or
During Installation Windows will ask which drive to format.

Windows is very happy to wipe your disk clean by formatting everything into one large partition when you go to install it.

formatting the hard drive is one of the steps that Windows performs in installing itself on the computer. You do not need to format the hard driving before installing Windows.

Make sure that you have backup all of your viable data before installing Windows because with the formatting all data on the disk will be lost.
