The five sounds are .. 1) a clip from Madonna's Like a Prayer, 2) (this one just started recently) a guy saying Totally Awesome. 3) A horse running 4) Santa saying "Ho, Ho, Ho" and 5) a drill sound (which scares me all the time.)
I have ad-aware but it's done nothing and I have no clue where to even look to delete this files. It happens randomly and it's almost like a pop up, but there is no pop up--just the sound. Any advice? Thanks.

I've gone through answers so far, it happens completely randomly. The only change in windows theme was my wallpaper, I've searched for all sounds but couldn't find any that matched, I did go through AIM and select that it only plays default sounds, I can't download a new anti-virus progam because my university only allows a certain program. I did the whole sounds tab and none of the sounds were there. It's been an hour since a sound has occured which is rare so maybe something worked? If you have anymore advice I'd love to hear it. Thank you so much for helping me.

There are a couple things you could try to get this to stop. Search your computer for any sound files. You will likely come up with many files of your own, but look for ones that are either in temp directories or with names similar to the sounds which randomly play. Play the sounds and see if any are what you hear randomly.
Also, look at any background programs that could be running, particularly in your system tray. Sometimes these programs could have been installed without your realizing it and they could be playing sounds.
Third, check instant messaging applications to see if you have 'buddies' who have set there log in/log off sounds to play on other computers. Change your settings in the IM application to not play buddies' sounds.
Hope this helps!

.
I can help you.
But first you must take steps to help yourself out of this mess, that was done by another user of your machine,
OR a malicious virus, or trojan.
Two things: I and II
I
A. Get AVAST
1. Remove what you have now. It didn't do right did it? Dump it
2. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and delete the anti-virus program you have now,
if you have one;
then use your Search feature, type in the name of your current anti-virus program
if you have one > right click and delete any instance it finds.
3. Get FREE Home version of an excellent anti-virus software = AVAST
http://avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html....
Install > run > do a thorough scan
and allow it to run on your computer all the time.
Whatever it finds > select DELETE
The annual registration and frequent updates are free too.
B. Get free Ad-AWARE spy-removal tool from Lavasoft
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
Download, install and run this program weekly or more.
II
1. Go to START > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices
2. tab Sounds
3. In frame Program events:
scroll down to find these nuisance sounds and change back to default sounds. You may have to do some detective work here and play a few, then browse a bit.

other source for sound files being played randomly is a hardware monitoring program which has been set to sound an alarm for instance when disk space is too low, or when processor temp. is too high... as someone already said: CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the task manager (I suppose you're using M$ WIN XP) and look for every unknown task running; kill all unnecessary!

ya it sounds like it has something to do with your windows theme. Right click on your desktop, and select properties. in the themes tab go to the pull down menu and select windows default, or if you're running xp, select windows xp, or windows classic. That should take care of the problem.

You've got some real problems there. It sounds as if the ad-ware has given you a few viruses. I can only say this and thats to make a copy of all your files and reboot your PC and start a fresh.

My widespread grow to be "18. initiate making out with the guy on the terminal next to you (It helps in case you understand them, yet it is likewise a marvelous thanks to make new pal)." i'm basically imagining that.
