depends on the model.
most of them made after 2000 are HD and will support 1280x1024

but ones before that will only go to 1024x768 or even 800x600

but note that your video card plays an important role in HD

Basically Yes. Almost all CRT monitors made since 2000 are capable of resolutions of or greater than 1080p. Now lcds...most of the newer ones are, but some are not. It's all on the Maximum Resolution
