I'm afraid of dying alone. What happens if you outlive your close family, and you're on your deathbed and nobody cares? There was an episode of 'House' recently which dealt with this. An old man was trying purposefully to be an ornery and diffictult patient - just so he'd be remembered. I have 4 neices that I'm not terribly close with, but I try to maintain those relationships because in the back of my mind I imagine that someday there won't be anybody around to take care of me, and it might need to be one of them who gets my mail and changes my diaper for me.

this is going to sound stupid but i am terrified of escalators. every time i have to go on one i get scared to death.
