Blacks; why are you firmly perpetuating stereotypes?

This is for all of the black people that act like a stereotypical black person. You know who you are. Remember, the statistics don't lie; my eyes do not deceive me, we all see you acting this way. (For all the other blacks that don't keep up the good work, you are working for a better world.)

Why can't you stop speaking Ebonics and talking with that same old black accent. It sounds ghetto and ruins your chances of getting a good job because people think you are ignorant. You think that getting pregnant and having ten thousand babies’ daddies makes the black race look good? You think acting ghetto in public makes you look good?

It's bad enough so many black males are in prison, but it is very embarrassing when these black guys can't even run from the cops because they keep tripping on their low hanging pants. It is absurd. This may seem racist but you need a kick in the butt. Stop making yourself a target for racism by acting this way.

P.S. I am a multi-racial person, but partially black. My boyfriend is white and told me how frustrating it is not to be able to walk around out of his neighborhood without being scared. He lives in an upper middle class neighborhood with mostly whites. But 2 blocks away is a black neighborhood. He’s been called a cracker, white boy, and other names by blacks guys more than once just for walking by. He’s been robbed 2 and punched/black eye for no reason by black guys. When he complained to me I had nothing to say because I was just as angry as him.

Actually it was a group of about ten black guys, my boyfriend will stand up for himself. They ran.

I knew someone would say "it's our culture"....thank you one in. No it is not culture it's a willful display of ignorance. Blacks perpetuate stereotypes just so they will have something to complain about when something doesn't go their way, I personally will never hire a person that doesn't speak properly or wears the baggy clothes, doesn't make me racist but I sure get called it often by stupid blacks who think the color of their skin is why I wont hire them. As far as their irresponsible breeding that just gives the female of the species a larger government check, and they are too stupid to use condoms.

I am white and go to a private school. I am proud to say that my uber preppy school is diverse but things are never going to be the same for all races. It is always hard to treat people who look different than yourself the same way. I hope that there is a brighter future for all of the races and i hope that one day in the future there wont be any racism or sterotypes because when i have kids (10 years away.. w/e) i want them to know that just because someone looks different that they are still the same on the inside (kinda cliche but w/e)

Are you asking a question or preaching? Black people will be a "stereotypical black person" just for being alive in some peoples eyes. I don't speak Ebonics, I don't dress "ghetto", or have "baby mamas", but why do I feel like I have to prove myself to people who don't know me. People are going to do what they want regardless if you see negative or not. When a white person person says "This is bad" or "This looks stupid i.e. ghetto" , does that make it a true statement? Why do black people have to go out of their way to prove that they don't fit a negative stereotype on a daily basis, but the faults of other races are totally ignored.

You are one of the reasons why so many people in society have stereotyped us. Again, I'm am mixed too (italian, irish, indian, and black) but I would never put down anyone. People are just people! I can't stop whites from judging me because they see something they don't like. And just like emo is a style, low pants is a style! Stop trying to bring down others fashion sense. Why should a culture lose itself? Although so stereotypes are negative....okay ALOT of them, they are who we are! All cultures are stereotyped to some degree.

I think you just had a bad day with your boyfriend and he let his agression/frustration out on you and you are doing it on here. Because you are Multi-racial, you should know what stereotypes are not you and that you should NEVER be ashamed of and those that are not who you are.

I am a African-American Female from the South. I would how many stereotypes can you envision with those descriptures?; But would you be shocked to know that I am single, no "babies" or "baby's daddies," and seeking an higher education?

Yeah. To stop the stereotypes, you have to start with your own prejudices.

I dont. Then again the only places I go is home and school, and work. I try and stay away from everyone to keep peace. I also dont try to be anything I'm not. I'm not gangsta and I could never be. I just do what I like to do and stay to myself. I also treat everyone with respect.
