Either the globe is warming or cooling.
Which ever it is does not matter for the present.
If there is a long trend such as now does it make a difference?-prior to this warming trend we had some other pundits going nutty over Global freezing till about 1975.

The bigger question is does MAN control this issue.

How come the scientific weatherman cannot predict the weather more that 24 hrs into the future without much accuracy but our Global warming experts can predict such dramatic problems many decades from now????

I do beleive in global warming and with 21 professional qualifications and 3 degrees I don't think I'm stupid; and no, it's not my religion.

As a scientist I look at all options before coming to a conclusion. I've looked into the possibility that global warming is real and that it's not real. I've looked into the probable causes and effects. The bottom line is that the evidence that shows global warming to be happening is overwhelming. Almost 1000 studies have been undertaken and every one of them concludes global warming is happening.

Those who claim global warming is a myth have absolutely no evidence whatsoever and base their arguments on trying to discredit the reports into global warming. That's a behavioural technique used by school children - not professionals or scientists. Anybody can accuse someone of being wrong but it's only credible if they have evidence to back up their claims.

The school I went to in the 1970's has 50 years of weather records taken by 8 and 9 year olds. This in itself shows an irrefutable rising of temperatures. If schoolkids with a $10 thermometer can prove global warming is for real imagine what the scientists can do.

If you want to make up your own mind about global warming then search out unbiased first hand reports. Don't rely on second hand evidence or what you read on biased websites.

I don't have an intelligent answer. I just wanted to laugh because I agree. :)

OK, well, maybe I'll answer. People really are prone to extremes. They throw themselves into things with all of the passion they have until something better comes along. It's sad really.

I don't know if they're stupid as just . . . hyper-reactive. The fact that they go crazy over reports that came out a month ago that insist humans are to blame for global warming, yet ignore the report that came out a week later insisting that global warming is a natural part of the planet's growth . . . it just goes to show that this isn't a full commitment: it's a popularity thing.

If the planet is the warmest its been in awhile--thanks in part to us mammals eagerness to destroy the environment we live through various means--I don't think I would call it 'finding a new religion'.

Something which is based on science and fact isn't considered a "theocratic" institution.

Those who imply it as such are those same kinds of people who discount science as being something tangible instead of something thoroughly based on their own religious belief system.

Up until recently, the White House has been against science itself--claiming many times over that it isn't based on "Christian science".

Claims about global warming was heavily discounted because Bush said it didn't "exist". It wasn't until recent studies tying the polar bears shrinking habit to global warming--that the administration was finally forced to accept the fact that such a phenomenon *does* exist--and isn't based on whatever fictional fantasy spun by the government itself.

Global warming is happening. Every discipline of geo-science supports the evidence. This reality cannot be denied.

Those that support this truth are the intelligent ones. Those that deny it better get their heads out of the sand before atmospheric Co2 reaches 450ppm they will be proven wrong horrifically wrong. It is over 300ppm today. A shockingly high geo-historically level.

The last time Co2 levels were what they are today was 55- million years ago during period of striking turnover of dominant species call the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum . Large mammals of the time did not survive.

The Co2 level then? 25-50ppm less than what it is today.

it's nothing more than Global Corporate Media Manipulation of the Ignorant masses.

I almost got fired for shutting down dirty filty Locomotives that were idling for days and emitting clouds of toxic diesel particulates into the air of a major suburban area in Canada.

Our Liberal Environment Ministers didn't lift a bureaucratic finger to help me eliminate CO 2 emissions but now they want to go GLOBAL.

HYPOCRITES and filty liars... that's all I have to say about that!!!

When I was working on my undergraduate degree, I had a geology professor who told us that of course the world is warming. It has been warming since the last ice age.

And your question is not emotional?
Anyway, those who do not believe in anything, will end up believing anything. This is why they have latched onto global warming to believe in.
