Sure, plenty of times.
The rule of thumb is "Take the penalty rather than let them score a goal!"

I remember an interesting one where Ryan Miller handled the puck front of the goal line, tapped it into the trapezoid, and then backhanded it while it was in the trapezoid.
He got called for it. I guess the reasoning was that he had possession of it while it travelled through that corner zone even though it wasn't on his stick.
Personally I think the whole rule is ridiculous. That and the puck-over-the-glass rule are ill-advised. And the instigator rule, but that debate has been going on for a while.

There are 2 trapezoids in the corners of the rink. They cannnot touch the p.c.. while that's in there. the middle trapezoid and something of the sector the goalie can play the p.c...

It happens pretty often. Not as much now as it did in the early part of the season. You could almost see them try to stop after they realized what they were doing, but it was too late. You could see they were just kicking themselves for it.
I guess old habits die hard for some.

For sure, It happens bi-weekly moreorless. Hasek got a penalty for this early in the season and went bananas so they gave him an unsportsmanlike penalty on top of it HAHA!
