I have the orriginal Playstation, and when I put a disk in, it doesn't read it. Does anyone out there know what's wrong with it?

1. Make sure the cover is completely closed.
2. Clean the disk with a tissue or light water vapor, or try another disk.
3. Is it new or used? Has it previously worked?
4. Does it turn on? What screen does it take you to if so?

If you have cleaned the eye then check to make sure that the disk is spinning. try to put in a regular music cd and see if it will read if it does'nt then you have a problem. if it does read the music cd then it should read the game cd if not try to boot up the game through a gameshark or action replay disk first. also check your connections to the playstation and make sure that they are working if you have the coax adaptor change the button from 3 to 4 and try it on channel 4 of your tv. if you have the AV connecter then make sure that the AV plugs are pluged in right.

Another thing to try...turning the Playstation upside down or using an object to prop it on an angle. Many of the original playstations did not work when they were level after awhile, but would work when turned sideways, upside down, etc.

the older style is def better. when the 299 ps3 came out they failed to say it would not play ps2 or ps games that the older system could. nor would it have the media card drives it has either. even though its refurbished i would still get it unless you couldnt return it. but with game stop you can usually return items like that. i say if its the same cost as the 299 ps3 hell ya get it. ask them to throw in cod mw2 in half price too. lol
