Mario Lemieux coming out of retirement with about 10 games left in the season to help the pens in the playoff run? Is it possible? Is it likely?

Had he not had all the heart problems last year, I doubt he would have retired so abruptly. He would have at least gotten to 700 goals. With that being said, there is no reason he should come back. He has nothing to prove, and its not worth the long term risk of his health. We have the players in place to get the job done for many years to come.

Mario is right where he should be, fighting to get us a new arena here in Pittsburgh. We all hope that he can save this team one more time!

Not possiable. He has a HEART issue, that is what caused him to retire. If he tried to play it would cause that problem again and his heart would speed up and just be nothing but problems for him. He is fine for regular life, but not for hockey life. Even if it WAS possiable, as in it was a physical thing, it wouldn't be likely because the team really doesn't need him. Come on 10 games or so and he wouldn't have time to get the Chemistry down well. He would have needed to be at least practicing with them for awhile now to really get back in shape and the chemistry in place. Anyway his number was re-retired at the start of the season and I think it is staying in the rafters.

to the yankees fan, he came out of retirement ONCE so I don't get that "it wouldn't surprise me. To Jeff, he played LAST YEAR, which was playing in the new NHL.

he is a great player but he didn't help them win a cup last year.i don't think he will come out of retirement again that is why he recruited sidney crosby.he has overcome many obstacles in his career but i think as a player he's done.he was truly one of the greatest players to ever play the game!!!!!even though i am not a pens fan they needed young blood and that is what they have now,it has picked up the older players step also.i remember hearing an announcer saying last year that the pens club had become a country club and the players had gotten lazy, they got a shot of new blood and now they are hot.even mark recci has stepped up to the plate and is playing a real game.i know everyone talks about sidney crosby all the time but i think jordan staal is the one to watch!!!!!!!!!!

Don't I wish (I'm a huge pens fan)! But, it just won't happen. Hes too worried about his heart to try to play (and I mean the actual condition of his heart). I think he will do just fine for the team by going to the games and cheering on the pens, and also making sure Crosby is all happy and content still staying at Mario's house for free!

Remember why he retired twice? Back problems (and heart for the 2nd time)

His back killed him his whole career to the point that he took almost an entire season off in his prime
He also is a cancer survivor
I don't think he's coming back :(

The Pens are fine by themselves...just look at the run they are on. A point in the last 16 games. They will be fine.

He'd have a better chance throwing his hat in the ring to be named the father of Simpson's lovechild and like most of them, it's just for publicity
Similar to what Gordie Howe did a few times
(not the lovechild....coming back from retirement)
It's also a chance for Mario to be a member of a Cup team

Yeah and maybe Randy Carlyle will quit as head coach of the Ducks and come back to play Norris-caliber Defense for them.

Even though he is the GREATEST PLAYER of all time!!!! Mario coming back is possible but not probable. I would love to see him back one more time. He is an icon and I wouldn't want to see him diminish that aura.
