Yes, many of these have been mentioned - Child burned from napaln running down the road, Monk on fire, Execution,.......but the most vivid to me are photos that include Americans. These tend to bring the whole war into perspective with us beinga driving force.

Those I remember most....the body counts on the nightly news, piles of the dead. The overburdened helicoptors taking off from the Embassy as Siagon was falling. The people amassed at the Embassy gates crying, fearing they will soon die at the hand of the communists. Major Calley on trial. Burning villages. Also, a recent photo I say on Yahoo news about a year ot teo ago of a child suffering the effects of Agent Orange.

This question dredges up horrible memories and imagery. The one picture I vividly recall, I believe you can find it in the archives of Life Magazine, was taken in Saigon around 1968. A man is being photographed as he is being executed in the dirt street of the town. He is on his knees with a Viet Cong soldier holding a pistol to his head. He has an expression of pure terror on his face as the picture captures the moment just before the report of firearm; before half of his head is blown away. A chilling, memorable picture from that awful war time in the late 1960's

Put in " Viet Nam war + photos " into your address bar and you will find a much wider selection that these rather one-sided offerings given by others here.

PS To historical revisionist above. The monk did not set himself on fire to protest the war. He set himself on fire to protest the soon to be overthrown Diem regime.

The picture of a nine year old girl, named Kim Phuc, running from her village naked with other children is the most famous picture from the Vietnam War. Google Kim Phuc and you will see.

Unlike WWII, the media had more free reign resulting in many memorable photos. The "conflict" lasted a long time so there isn't 1 photo that speaks for the entire war.

The photos mentioned above can be seen below

I agree with the answer above me - the picture of Kim Phuc running after being napalmed is one of the best. In fact, Kim Phuc lives nearby and I occasionally see her on my university campus. Walking history, right there!

My dad died trying to get people off the roof of the embasy.. he was a helicopter pilot.. So I guess for me it would be the people trying to cram themselves onto the craft.
