This question is posted for people who have either visited the city pre-Katrina or not. The goal is to get creative suggestions as to what industries are lacking, need development, or would prompt growth in the city. Unfortunately, the greatest strength of my former home is also its weakness...complacency.
There is a lack of new ideas or fresh insight in the current process, so I am curious to hear from the world community as to what an "ideal" city (in the framework of New Orleans' heritage) might offer. What would be three industries you would place in New Orleans during it's rebuilding?

Ok, it seems many people have taken the stance that anyone in New Orleans should accept that it's in a bowl and will flood. Given that fact, the government should wash it's hands of any further aid and merely write it off as "unacceptable risk".
I accept that stance, Here's the catch....if you live in a major city and it's hit by a terrorist attck, then your fault for living in a high profile target. Oh yeah, if you live in farmland you better accept the occassional drought. Oh, and I feel that my tax dollars shouldn't go to pay for the public education of your ADD kid.I think you see where this is going. The reason we pay tax, vote, and participate in this little experiment called America is to have a community to come to our aid. I also understand the frustration of those on the outside looking in. All you see on T.V.and hear is corruption and lack of progress. For these reasons I've asked for creative ideas, not the typical "not my problem" knee jerk response.
