I've put rubberbands in my daughter's hair since she was 4 months old. Not a problem.

You could put his hair in rubberbands but it has been said that rubberbands will break off the hair and it also hurts if the rubberband is in a bit tight. I would recommend if you want to put his hair up for you to use those hair bands that has cover over them to protect his hair and not hurt him.

my son is almost 28 months and hasn't had his first hair cut yet, but that is only because he has curls and I am afraid if I get it cut to short they won't grow back.

If it is cold where you are I would wait until it warms up or make sure you have a good warm hat to put on him.

If there is no cold weather issue where you are go ahead, as long as he will stay still to have it done there should be no problems.

Just remember to keep his first lock of hair.

I'm not sure why you would want to put rubberbands in a little boy's hair ....but regardless, 5 mos is too young and the bands could be damaging to his hair.

My son got his first trim at 12 months. I think a baby's hair has to get thicker before it can have a style. Is it thick or just long? I think just a trim is good for now. Wait till are about two to really get a style. That way they are more willing to sit still long enough.

I would not do anything with his hair just yet. the chemicals could seep through his skin or he could get some on his hand while moving about and then get some in his mouth also a rubber band could come off and he could get ahold of it and choke. leave it be untill he is about a year. that is when my son got his first hair cut.

my boys first hair cut was at 1 month of age...I dont like the hair to touch their ears...also, it is second nature to them and they never fight it cause I started them so young. It doesnt freak em out.

Why not trim his hair instead? A rubber band could be dangerous to a baby. He could swallow it or it could pull at his hair and hurt.
