Men don't need to push to the male gender forward, we already live in a patriarchal society. I am proud to be a woman, but I don't think it's fair that I have a role I'm expected to follow because of me gender. My husband and every bit as capable to care for the children, clean the house, and cook. He has hands and feet and makes half the mess. He wants his laundry done, he can do it too. He wants a hot meal, he can cook it too. Men are just as capable for nurturing as any woman, and women are just as capable to provide for the family. As a woman, I don't think it's fair that I am passed over for a promotion given to a man when I work harder and have been there longer. I don't think it's fair that people take my husband more seriously than they do me. I don't think it's fair that people like YOU can't see that there is a difference in the treatment of the genders. Men are sexist pigs. It's in their nature to be. If they weren't, we wouldn't have to fight to have our voices heard. We wouldn't have to fight to make it in today's society. The double standards that exist today because it is damaging to the male ego to take orders from a woman. My place is NOT limited to the kitchen or the house. My job is NOT to wait hand and foot on a man. I will MOT succumb to every whim of my husband. I am not a slave. I am every bit as equal and any man and I'll be damned if anyone else tells me other wise, especially a closed minded conservative house wife, or a chauvinistic jerk, one of which you fall into.

I am a proud feminist and proud to be a woman. I'm not angry at any men, but I am angry at a society that tells me that I have to fit a gender role because I'm a woman.
Being a nurturer and a protector are both important but who decided who does what? Why can't everyone do a bit of both?
And by the way, there is a movement for pushing the male gender forward. It's called society.

I like most of your point of view.
But there is a little bit of hypocrisy in it.
'the male provides and protects, and the female nurtures and supports.'
and
"cause male or femal i dont see a difference"
There is much hypocracy in that statement.
Think about it for a while.
Also, with the first quote, "the male provides and protects, and the female nurtures and supports."
Im not a feminist, but that is one thing that I really despise hearing.
If men and women were equal there would be no set roles.
Other than that, I totally agree.
I think men should be able to start a mens movement and keep it as long as the one for women exists.
I was really surprised to see that Yahoo! had a womens study, but to Mens study.
That is very sexist, and Men should be able to have studies too.

More power to ya.

Well, I would call myself a feminist (I'm all for equal rights under the law), I'd rather label myself a humanist because of the controversy and garbage surrounding the term feminist. Like it or not, feminists are attached to the label of an unhygienic, hirsute group of misandric (I like how Yahoo! labels that as a misspelling) bitches. Furthermore, the term itself, with "Fem" in the beginning, assumes quite a lot. Plenty of people (myself included) could and do argue that women have certain unspoken rights that men do not have, so it's better to call oneself a humanist if one is REALLY for equality across the board; that's my take on it, at least.
As a response to your second question, there is a men's movement, although it's not very cohesive, and the members of this movement are labeled as misogynistic sexists.
Hope that double response answers your query.
EDIT: keeperofpuppies, nice rant. Unfortunately, in that very rant you also identified yourself as a sexist, based on the statements that you made, primarily your ad hominem attacks against the poster and assumptions of job discrimination, when affirmative action is already in effect. Point in case; you're the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm feminist, because I'm still meeting some men trying to reduce women only to medieval "maternal" role. Feminism is about freedom of choice. She wants career? Why not, if she is strong enough?
I see men as a normal human beings, accept their rights, but I don't allow them to cut my rights. Too many husbands fail to fulfill their role of "protector and provider", they hurt or leave their families. What then? Humiliating waiting for another one? I would rather fight to be able to protect my family and provide money or whatever to them.

I understand where your coming from, but your a little off balance. I think yes men and women have a place, but there is a huge gray area that they share. I do not think a woman's role is to nurture and support, although they are damn good at it. For instance although she is able I would not feel right letting my wife cut the grass. I think that is my role. I spent many years as a deckhand, and feel that it is not a profession for women. However, most professions and roles can be performed equally as well by women as by men, and we need to acknowledge that and not look at women as our supporters. I think there are a lot of women that just have something to prove, and beware of them. But still, I think most women still want us to take care of them. The only problem I have is with women, or any group that call equality giving them special treatment. I have seen a few women that boast they are equal, but when it comes to certain things say "but I'm a woman". Shame on them.

Men (in general) have things they are better at than women. Women (in general) have things they are better at than men. So what?
The point of feminism isn't that men and women are the same - they're not, don't be an idiot - the point is that they both deserve the same rights to pursue happiness in whatever form is best for them.
In other words, it may be biological fact that men usually develop stronger muscles than women, but that's not a valid reason to prevent women from entering the military.
I think you need to ask yourself why you're so threatened by these ideas.

Feminism is ridiculous. First of all, feminists are NOT men, so they need to stop trying to be what they arent. Also they are taking away better paying jobs from guys who need to support their family, not because they need the extra money, but they want and expect the highest position in any job just so they can say they are better than men are. Men are stronger and more capable than women, and women were created to be more affectionate and sensitive so they could raise great children. Feminists are just trying to fight against what God made them, it makes me sick.

Feminist has become a dirty word. Anyone who thinks men and women should be treated equally is a feminist, period.
