It is a ethnicity of people with French, Indian, and African ancestry, and sometimes Spanish ancestry. They live in areas that were settled by the French such as Louisiana and Haiti. They can range from very white looking to looking black and all shades in between. As far as race identity most consider themselves Creole as a race. But when identifying in society they identify themselves as what ever race they look most like or identify with more. My dad's family is creole. There are people on his side with sandy brown curly hair and blue eyes and some with long black hair and green eyes. If you were to look at them you would think they where white or Hispanic but they consider themselves black for the sake of society. Most people in our society don't know what a Creole is. They think its just about the food or culture. It is really an ethnic group.

edit: yes they do have a language. I think It is a mixture of French and African languages but I'm not sure of its origins. Some older people in my family speak it but I don't know anyone under 45 years old in my family that can speak it.

Any mixed breed descendant of the French who settled in Loiusiana before the Louisiana Purchase. They speak a language similar to French but not exactly French. Skin color has nothing to do with being Creole. Just blood. By the way, Louisiana ia the only state that still blood tests because there is a strong chance that you could be marrying a sibling. I met a woman who said her daughter had nine miscarriages and was facing her tenth because she married a sibling. She found out after they married. They were Creole. It is amazing what people will tell you in a hospital lobby.

It's a debated topic, but generally:

Louisiana Creole refers to people of any race or mixture thereof who are descended from settlers in colonial French Louisiana before it became part of the United States in 1803 with the Louisiana Purchase.

In the song it seems she is belittling dark-skinned women. She makes it sound like being Creole is the best race in the world, and if she's so proud of her heritage, why has she been piling on so much makeup, trying to look white?

A creole can generally be anyone with mixed local/European ancestry. In the US, we mostly hear of creoles in Louisiana, but the term applies in numerous countries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creole_peoples
