Last year!? How about last 2-3 decades. No one takes marriage seriously. It is the status quo now. A shame beyond all IMO- for society. I have 2 kids and MOST of their friends come from broken families and let me tell you it hurts these kids. I have had many a kid crying here over the divorce that their parents are going through and the aftermath. My husband and I are one of the very very few couples who are both married for the first time and are still married. People are selfish and want it all. They do not realize that the grass is not greener.... Marriage is hard work and they do not want to do the work. There is no stigma attached to divorce so why not they think? They say they are not happy. Pa-leeze!!!! The media, the movies being made, break down in extended family all contribute to high divorce rate. Men/women have their own money. They don''t feel they need the other. Men can hire maids and whatever and women work anyway so.... Hey if kids are not involved, do what you want. Kids involved- try to work on it and try hard. Ah, I am just venting now. Sick of the people who treat divorce with children like no big deal. My divorced friends who are now in their 50's like me, are still looking for their "perfect match" and are VERY unhappy.

Are you kidding ? It's EASY to see just by the answers given here!
People have this idyllic, unrealistic view of marriage, no lying, no cheating, no problems, ever.
And when the sh*t hits the fan, buh bye. ....
Look at how "moral" these people would seemingly be, yet, even if you have small children, they recommend for you to break up the entire home.
It's better morals to get a divorce than to have ANY problems in marriage.
THAT is the ethic of today and THAT is why all these people are DOOMED to divorce.

Because we as a society are getting more selfish and not wanting our marriages to last anymore. We want out way too easily nowadays and the courts and lawyers are also making it way to easy to get a divorce. Very sad but true.

i was watching the news the other day and they were saying most marriages are ending because of money, to much arguing about money and to many issues evolving around money, i think some people are rushing into things they are not ready for.
