Why is this in the GLBT section?

Anyhow, I don't, actually, think too often about Chinese people. I'm minoring in Japanese and studying the culture, so I more often think about the Japanese than I do the Chinese.

However, I am taking an Asian Studies class, and studying China and similar areas is what we've been focusing on. China is a very old nation with a lot of history and honed and crafted values, artistry, and national identity. They've had a lot of isolation as a nation (being closed off to trade, their Communism, etc., etc.) and never had the sort of Western influence that Japan did. In some ways, they are still as foreign and exotic to us as they ever were in our history.

I do not know that many Chinese people, but the ones I do aren't selfish. They're polite and respectful, and good people all around. Maybe just the people you're interacting with have these traits?

And I don't know that staring a lot is a trait common to the Chinese, but even if it is, you need to remember what is impolite in one culture may be fine in another. For example, Americans might see long stares as being critical or challenging, whereas another culture might see it as establishing rapport through eye contact, etc., etc..

Maybe you should do some studying into Chinese culture, perhaps? Something along the lines of "Culture Shock! China: A Guide to Customs & Etiquette" by Kevin Sinclair and Iris Wong Po-Yee might be nice.

Hope that helps!

I have some friends that are chinese. I don't have any major problem with them at all, in fact,i find them to be frank and honest,of course,it doesn't mean they don't have flaws. People are just the same whether what race they are into. They are good demons and bad demons and remember we are all people.
What i liked about them are they are not selfish in sharing foods and are great chefs, too.

I don't think about Chinese people in any one particular way. I've known many and all in all my opinion of the ones I've met have been very friendly, polite, hard working, and wanting the same things out of life that I want. A home, a family, a love, and freedom to go out in life and earn the means to have those things.

Thank you for your time.

I'm hurt by your generalization. I'm a mixed (though not part Asian) white girl, and I have a lot of Chinese friends. A lot of times people generalize about Asians because they look so similar: almost all of them have straight black hair and slanted black eyes. But although they might look similar, they don't all act alike. Some are jerks, but every race has jerks. Please don't judge. The Chinese help other races: they helped build the American railroads, fought and still fight in America's wars, contributed educated professionals to the American workforce, and much more. Please do not generalize against any race, it's not fair to the individuals born into it.

My best friend's mom is Chinese and his dad is Japanese...they're some of the best people I know. My mom has to be away from the house a lot, so his mom has always calls to check on me and brings me to her house if my mom's going to be gone for a while, cuz she knows I hate being alone. That's pretty much my second family.

im ethic chinese.

no offence to anyone but honestly, i think chinese people who live in a chinese cult enviroment meaning (china and taiwan) are selfish in a way esp from the ones i see in taiwan. they are ignorant and shallow. but of course there are the good ones who are nice and polite. most of us think chinese people (china) are disgusting from the way they behave.

overseas chinese who live abroad away from china and taiwan for generations are influenced by the western culture dont seem to behave that way. who knows??? i may be wrong. ha!

Chinese people is very nice!!! If you're nice to them, they're nice too. My best friend is Chinese, she gets along very well with my parents.. she is so nice to us and she always tries to help me in anything I need.
Also, my boyfriend is Chinese... he is very warm-hearted and polite ;-) , very gentleman.
Maybe you think like that because you're racist or because you've ran into people like that... how unlucky you're

That is how it is with humanity; there are selfish people everywhere, and there are friendly people everywhere.
