Gossip magazines and columns of the like are debasing the trade. The media as a whole has been demonized by its own rabid hunger and result in stories which are biased or badly researched. The trade does deserve respect however for those are do it well. It can be a dangerous job and it was established to serve the people.

I wouldn't say its a joke, at all. I just think people sometimes look too much into it. They make it out as if it's this HUGE deal, and really, I mean, you're reporting this and this, and to some people, that might be important to them. So no, i don't think its a joke.

Yes I do...when things such as Britney Spears' shaving her head, her divorce, etc start making the "headlines" of a "reputable" source as opposed to being tabloid fodder...journalism becomes a joke.

Absolutley -- This profession is supposed to be informed, and yet the vast majority of journalists have little to no understanding of basic economic concepts. I consistently read articles in Newspapers and News Magazines with basic premises issues. Journalists shouldn't just be journalists - they should be experts at whatever it is they are writing about.
