I am so sorry you are feeling so bad, Keri B. But the answer before mine is very good advice. The "Secret" has to do with the law of attraction and is scientifically based. Look up the "law of attraction" on the internet. It's interesting reading. Sometimes we have to fake it 'till we make it. Please know you're not alone and it really will be ok. There's a reason why you are here on this earth which I like to call "the school." Just the fact that you asked this question tells me that you've got a very special journey ahead. I'm excited for you.

Not sure if you mean yourself in general. Or is it what you see happening in the world. If its just yourself get some help from a professional. If feeling depressed because of what you see going on in the world itself? Stop watching the news on t.v and don't read the daily paper. It can cause media stress. And stay away from negative people. Hang with the ones that don't stress you. If you refuse to seek help and you feel so alone? Sorry to be religions but he is the only friend you have. At least he is always there for you. Not like some of your friends.
There's an old saying. "If you don't take care of yourself nobody else will." Sort of wondering when you started getting depressed as well. Was there a time when you were not depressed? If so think back at those times and work on them again. And stop crying. It gives you wrinkles.
Your going to be alright. Take care now.

Draw 2 circles, one inside the other-like a doughnut. The inner circle is your area of influence. This is what you have the ability to control. The outer circle is everything else (the world) that we have no personal control over.

Think about whats in your circle. Get rid of the negatives in your life. Remember, this circle is the area you do have control over. Have like-minded friends, not abusive ones (this goes for family as well). Plan a get-together with one or more of these friends/family, whether its pizza and a dvd, movies, hiking, cycling, etc. I've found walking on trails and getting out of the city provides me with a great amount of stress relief.

Stop thinking so much about the outer circle, since you cannot influence it. Your focusing on all of these problems will only make you miserable. We all worry about life on earth, but we're all small characters in its story.

If you get really down, buy yourself something that you do not need, but make sure it is relatively inexpensive. That will perk you up, especially if its something silly, like a hand puppet.

Life can be depressing just as it can be a beautiful experience, just accept that you have all you need, and be grateful for that everyday, you may not have or do all the things you want, but life is beautiful once you realize all that you do have and not give in to the thoughts of things you wish it could be.

1) From my studies I have learned that unhappiness stems from lack of forgiveness. You need to forgive yourself and others for real or imagined harms. You feel depressed because you feel stuck and/or helpless, and lack of forgiveness keeps you stuck and keeps old though patterns, memories and beliefs circulating. Stop blaming others and yourself. No apologies are required. Forgive to regain power over your life.

2) Change your thoughts. What you choose to think and believe is what you create in your life. Change your thoughts. Reaffirm to yourself over and over and over what you what to be true. (At first it will feel like a lie but these new mental habits it will eventually prove themselves to you). When you wake up in the morning, say to yourself "I AM going to have a good day today!" And say it like you mean it! When you go to work say "I will enjoy my job today, will feel appreciated and respected and will do my very best." Say it like you mean it. FEEL it.

The problem with depression is it allows you to feel victimized. Take your power back. Don't be a victim. And don't be angry or resentful either. Rejoice in your life. Rejoice that tomorrow is a new day. Rejoice in the lessons you have learned. Give thanks for what you have.

This response may sound nutty, but I promise you, every word of it is true. It doesn't matter how educated you are, we are all subject to depression when our lives are out of balance.

If you have a few dollars, order the movie The Secret. I'm going to bet it has the answers you are looking for! http://whatisthesecret.tv/

well you could do what i do, learn something new. you said that you have 2 degrees didn't you? it sounds odd, but learn something that you never thought that you would get into. for example, I'm going to assume that you have never fired a gun in your entire life, keep in mind, I'm only assuming because most of the women that i know have never fired one. learn to be proficient in marksmanship. I've been taking shooting classes for a long time, and i always find it to be something to work at. i might be dead on accurate with one kind of firearm, but i have to work on accuracy with others.

besides, its a good stress reliever.

you could also do things that you have never done before. like, go on a true rustic camping trip. backpacking through the Rockies, go parachuting, bungee jumping, or go on a trip to somewhere you have never been.

someone once said, that humanity will only ever survive if we strive to better ourselves at all times.

do the things that give u simple pleasures.... go to a look out site and just gaze out .....as far as your eyes can see..
lie back on a cool crisp day and look at the clouds and decipher what they look like....
go on a nature walk.....
go to the beach and just lie there, listening to the waves crash on the shore.....
these are things i enjoy doing when i feel crummy....... makes you forget about alot of stuff....
and scream into a pillow....

hope u feel better.
