lyin is easier to say without the g. like goin or cookin. it's just easier to say.... lots of slang is used because requires your mouth to work less. I'm from the south, so this is not so strange to me.

There are different accents all over the country. It's what we picked up when we learned to speak. Some have heavier accents than others.

It is a matter of dropping the "g" in -ing words.... part of the charming accent for "suthunuhs"
