It's difficult for us to give you ideas for your master's thesis. It's really up to you - I say this because this is a project that you are going to be dealing with for a long time. You want to pick something that you like and enjoy studying. Think about why you went into urban soc. in the first place...was there a specific piece of research that interested you? a theorist that got you thinking? what specifically about the city intrigues you? Are you interested in macrolevel or microlevel sociology? Do you want to do quantitative or qualitative research? All these questions will help to guide you to the correct topic. Also try talking to faculty members to see what research they do, what interests you about their work?

Other than that...some topics some of my fellow colleagues are/have worked on:

the living wage movement
postmodernity in the city
the effects of globalization
a cross-sectional study of drug use among teenagers
homelessness

This would work--iff you want to do really original work. Examine the social interaction of persons with disabilities in an urban environment. For example, you could look for:
>to what extent are public places really accessible 17 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act?
>How are people with disabilities treated/responded to in urban settings?
>How do people with disabilities of certain kinds (e.g. using wheelchairs, deaf, blind) feel they are treated? what problems do they have.

There is a strongly sociological literature on disability (generally under the label "Disability Studies") that you can use to familiarize yourself with the basics. You can aslo try the website for the Society for Disability Studies and the Journal of Disability Studies. Also check Ewing Gottman's classic essay on Stigma.

Hmmm... In a wealthy district, where there is a computer connected to the Internet in every house. Is chatting changing teenagers' social skills such as communication and interaction face to face with other teenagers? Maybe you could push the study as far as trying to predict what the future face to face interaction will be like in wealthy communities. Could there be a correlation between wealthiness and communication abilities. Good luck!

The money gap between men and woman is a hot topic, a man still makes up too twice as much as a woman in the same field. The reason is because women don't like talking about money or they don't negotiate there salaries.
