I have a wound from a car accident where a piece of glass went through my ear so it was kind of like i got my ears pierced unintentionally.

It's healing now, or so I thought but recently pus just started coming out when i pushed it too hard. I clean and disinfect it every day but does this necessarily mean infection?

So far no swelling, redness, tenderness or fever.

Just this whiteish liquid

Pus is just white blood cells. White blood cells are what your body used to fight off infection, so they are going to be there even if its not actually "infected".

Pus is a byproduct of an infection. In some cases it is a good sign.... it means your white blood cells are killing the infection and trying to remove it from your body. The only way out however is the way it came in... if you experience lots of severe red streaks, that is a cause for concern and a trip either to the ER or Doctor, as the infection is spreading and becoming more severe. Hope this helps and makes sense :-)

Pus is usually a sign of a local infection. It is our bodies way of cleaning up. It is made up of dead white and red blood cells along with necrotic tissue that our body has liquified. If the area around the wound is swollen, red, painful or warm, or if you are running a fever go to the doctor. You may need an antibiotic to help your body clear the infection up.

Pus almost always means infection.

It is possible to have a so-called 'sterile' abscess where pus develops in response to a foreign body without an infectious organism being present; but that still means *something* is causing a problem and it should be looked at.

Pus is a collection of dead cells, cellular debris, and primarily neutrophils which are white blood cells. It can only arise as a result of infection, but not necessarily bacterial infection - infection from fungi, viruses, protozoa etc. can also cause pus.

YES! go to the doctor and get some antibiotics.

i got a blister on my hand a couple of days ago..and somehow it got infected. i took my happy self right in and they put my on Keflex.

Whenever a wound is 'weepy' like that you need to get it taken care of.
go to webmd... they will tell you the same thing. That's what i did!
