My favorite hobby is crocheting, although I do not get much down time to actually do it... I love the pieces I can make with a few pages of directions.

How did I get started with it? I had a wonderful boss that taught me how to when I was pregnant with my first child, she helped me start, talked me through on how to do it, and I made a really awful looking first baby blanket!

But I got the techniques down, and I have made several blankets since, as well as full bed spreads of all types of designs..

I have interested others by giving them a blanket, and taking time to sit with them and teach them how to do simple parts, gifted them with patterns and yarns.

As far as careers go, I could really go belly up if I relied on it to support me financially, but I have assisted some of my employees with learning the skill, so when work is slow, they can practice and produce some pieces to gift away to door prize baskets.

I enjoy knitting and crocheting. When I was about 7, my older sisters learned to knit mittens, and I desperately wanted to emulate them. Sadly, I was dreadful. I tried again in high school, I had a friend who knit a pair of Hot Pants, (yes, that is really what I said, they were vibrantly colored, fair isle pattern, totally in style, and horrifying in today's world). I was a little better able to create, but did not stick with it. Then in college there was a sock knitting craze, and i finally managed to finish something, and give it to some one who did not have an expression of horror on their face. Over the years, I pick up the needles, make several small projects, and start another big one that I never finish, and i enjoy it immensely. I have taught several people to knit, and have gotten others started just by knitting in public and creating interest. I figure that is as much value as being a talented knitter, and I am happy to say i have managed to avoid using bubble gum pink in anything I have made!

Well, in my situation, my number one hobby is reading. I got into it because in Middle School, a friend of mine used to read a lot of books. She read because the more we read books, the more we earned points, and we could exchange those points for things at a bookstore. I began reading and reading just to earn points, but in the end, I found myself engrossed in mystery novels. After that, I kept reading for pleasure, taking about 8 books home to read on the weekend. They were like 120-150 pages long, and I used to read all of them from dawn to sunset. I would encourage others to read because you learn a lot of words, and you learn to use them. I don't think I could make a career out of my hobby. The only thing I could do is either write books, or read to children. I still love reading, eventhough I haven't done much reading lately. I've been so busy with school, and well, maybe sometime I might take a break and read a few good novels. By the way, Dan Brown is a great Author.

I learned to knit when I was about 7, and did a few scarves. I really started to get interested in it when I was pregnant with my first child 24 years ago. I love knitting baby things and give away a lot, but know I am working on a business plan and developing ideas/marketing to do knitting for formal occasions such as prom and weddings. I may be doing my niece's wedding dress. She is getting married in June.

Interest can come in two way..one is when you had certain affection on something without you realize that there are people with same interest of yours, and secondly interest can come after we watch people doing their things and we start to humming ourselves..that seems interesting why dont I do the same thing..?

In my case I like photography, I was once only like pictures but there were time when I am not satisfied with what others have been produce, I start to make it in my own liking, and then after a constant creative process..I met people who share interets in my works and I am too watch their works for reference or inspiration. it's a problem of chicken and egg if you ask are you influence others or are you influenced by others, and its not so big deal after all.

In case of my hobby..yes I can make career (obviously money) of it...

my hobby is programming lol, I always felt interested in computers so I decided to learn a programming language and when I did and started writing some small programs I thought it was real fun in how you had to think everything out

getting someone else interested would be hard, it would be like zombies taking a human to the dead side, attack of the nerds!

My maternal grandmother taught me how to quilt when I was young and it stayed with me. Now it is my refuge when my day has been a hard one. She also got me hooked on gardening and cooking. She was a great natural teacher. I am hoping that I will have grandchildren one day who I can teach all that she taught me. I see all of it as more of a refuge than a vocation.
