Hypothetical situtation: So when I finally get my phd I would like to be Dr. Maiden name, not Dr. Husband's name, esp. considering I am the end of the family line and I am very proud of it, plus this is all me and all the schooling I've put myself through thus far (even before getting married). I would've kept my maiden name but I hadn't established anything important with it yet (published papers, etc.). AND if I had gotten married after getting even my masters, my husband would've been more comfortable with me keeping my last name, so I would've kept my maiden name anyway if it had just been a few more years... Is it legal to use my maiden name in such a way? If you're just going to rant about how untraditional everyone is becoming and horrible this is, don't bother answering because it's a waste of your time.
