Michel Foucault was the greatest philospher ever. He was able to analyze the geneological power structures of the entire world. He explained the concept of biopower and the effect it has on humanity. He had an amazing vision and he completely revolutionized the theories for Nietzsche, Kant, Heidegger, and Karl Marx. He obviously is the father of modern philosophy, influencing such philosophers like Agamben and Ranciere. Foucault, without a doubt in my mind, is the greatest philosophical thinker of all time.

Robert Heinlein. Not only did he write grand SF novels and stories, but he questioned EVERYTHING. He put politics, war, love, sex, religion, you name it, to the test, and came up with answers that both enlightened and amused, if not shocked. He tried to make us change the way we think about everyday events, and taught me that one should never take anything for granted until all the facts were accounted for. Maybe he didn't write anything like Plato or Sartre; but he tried to make it easy for anyone who was willing to try and understand. And he wasn't afraid to ask the hard questions, either, which most people skip around.
