Bush has plenary powers to deny fundamental rights to suspected terrorists by his defination. Taken as a whole, this ileagel occupation of Iraq, abuse of prisoners of war, domestic spying and the suspension of habeas corpus as well as military tribunals establishes a pattern of abuses that are a danger to the rule of law.
Given the Bush appetite for power at the expense of constitutional balance, our democracy is in danger.
I am grateful to the voters who expressed their lack of support for Mr. Bush and his war of choice.

BobG: No. I will never tire of this topic, though evidently you may. Our nation is at too great a risk with this current regime to go off message. I have a problem with corporate fascism and these are the most dangerous political circumstances I have seen to date.

The componants of a police state have always been in place. During the Civil War, Lincoln established martial law over most of the country. The only thing stopping the power of the President is the congress and the supreme court. While there was serious danger when republicans controlled congress and with 2 vacancies opening up in the supreme court, but now that democrats control congress, we call all breath a little easier.

Do the panic mongers and the haters ever tire of their tripe? It hasn't happen and isn't going to happen.

I am a lot more afraid of the tyranny of a liberal state where you are penalized for success and laws after law is made that steadily circumscribe your basic rights. Look carefully and you'll see the path of liberalism is the path of socialism is the path to a police state. The former Soviet Union is an example of where the liberal hatred always leads.

The collapse of the Soviet Union and the associated starvation afterword is the end point of all liberal plans, like it or not.
