So, abortion.
I am against it, but what are your thoughts?
----Why Im against it.
1.Your killing a human being, even if its a clump of tissue, its still a human being.
2.Abortions performed later on are painful for the baby.
3.(Religious)The pope said his life work was to do his work for God, but also to let everybody know that you must keep the human spirit and dignity strong. How does abortion do that? Can you imagine what God must be thinking? We are killing his own children, our own children!
4.Underage girls can get it, and they think it is ok to have sex because abortion will make it ok. Well it doesnt.
Ok, lets hear your thoughts.

To those who are for abortion, its your choice?
I guess that shows how responsible you are with your body.
You would kill a baby, and they can feel pain once you abort them, just so you could be happier for yourself. And by the way, just because its called a fetus doesnt mean it cant feel pain once you abort it using salt, a tube, or some instruments.

Maybe if women were more responsible with their bodies, there wouldnt be foster homes.

I finally made up my mind recently and I'm against it. It's killing and I'm all for peace, it's painful for the baby...nothing that innocent should have to suffer that much, and if the woman has a heart at all then she usually suffers emotionally afterwards...not to mention the physical suffering she can go through too.
It does depend on the situation though...like with rape. If the woman can't handle carrying the child of the man who abused her then I'm not sure she should have to. It all depends on the person.

1) It is certainly ending the life of a human (the use of being is subjective - have you read any philosophical debates on abortion?). But there is many examples of how letting something die is legal.
2) There is great debate on whether and at what point fetus' are able to feel pain. And whether or not it can feel pain is generally at moot point because it would be beyond when 99% of elective abortions are performed anyway.
3) Most awesomest thing ever about the US is that not everyone has to subscribe to the same belief and moral set. While you may believe that religiously abortion is wrong, NOT EVERYONE BELIEVES WHAT YOU DO. And it's unconstitutional to force others to believe your religion.
4) So, what your saying is women after the age of consent can have sex and abortions all they want? I don't think that's what you mean, but that's certainly what you're implying. I'm not sure what you mean by abortion will make sex OK, but I think you mean it's a way of handling a mistake, and well, that's true. Would you rather a 14 year old have a baby? Medicaid, food stamps, subsidized housing, etc., etc., are already way overused and overstretched, we certainly don't need to add to the problem.
"To those who are for abortion, its your choice?
I guess that shows how responsible you are with your body."
I currently use an IUD as birth control, I used the pill, ring, patch, and condoms before hand. I have sex with one person (and have only had sex with him), my partner, who I've been with for 4 years. We're engaged are planning our wedding.
I go for yearly well women exams, perform monthly breast exams, take vitamins and exercise.
I have never been pregnant, but have discussed an unplanned pregnancy with my partner, and we decided mutually that having a child at this time in our lives would be a terrible mistake. And so we would choose an abortion, which takes a ton less strain on a body than pregnancy and childbirth.
How is that not being responsible with my body?
"You would kill a baby, and they can feel pain once you abort them, just so you could be happier for yourself. And by the way, just because its called a fetus doesnt mean it cant feel pain once you abort it using salt, a tube, or some instruments."
Please... please... just research before you make broad statements. Saline abortions are rarely, IF EVER, used any more because there are much safer options. Medical abortions are rising in popularity which is basically a forced miscarriage. If an 8 week fetus can feel pain (which the majority of doctors will say can't), I can wish you the simple death they go through when you die.
"Maybe if women were more responsible with their bodies, there wouldnt be foster homes."
Honestly, the stupidity of this comment astounds and bewilders me. Congrats.
Oh, obviously pro-choice here, and I didn't even get into my reasons or the legality of it.

I agree with you 1000%. Abortion is wrong no matter how you view it. I try not to tell others what to do. But if someone I cared about said they wanted an abortion, I would try everything I could to help them decide not to. If your supposed to be responsible enough to have sex, then you should also be prepared to deal with whatever comes next, be it pregnancy or STD's. People shouldn't be having sex until they are married anyway. I however, didn't realize this until I was much older. Ya know, when I was a teen/early 20's I thought I knew everything. But abortion should not be the answer, no matter how personal, who speaks for the baby inside. And who really knows at which part of gestation wouldn't hurt the baby? I don't believe that anyone has been able to ask an aborted baby if it hurt or not. It's wrong to murder, no matter if the person is 1 day into gestation or 100 years old. Doesn't matter, it's wrong.

I think when people choose abortion they do it because they don't think they can deal with being pregnant or if they think they can they don't want to hand their baby to some complete strangers to raise because they have already grown to love their child as the child grew inside.
Abortion is a very personal and sensitive subject. It is the woman's choice, no matter her age. I do think you should see councling before and after at least one visit to be sure you can cope with such a difficult choice.
Most people live in the here and now and don't think of the future. How about the child that was killed yesterday because of someone's carelessness or murder.
You can say all you want about the "people out there they can't have a baby and want one, why can't you choose adoption" but there are lots of kids out in the foster system who do NOT have a family because some of these "childless" people that want a baby so bad are too selfish to adopt a child. They ONLY want a baby. I don't think it is fair for people to pass over a child that needs a home NOW because they want to be put on a waiting list for a BABY. THAT is NOT fair!

I personally could never get one. I had a baby alone at 18 and survived. But, if someone is on drugs, or just a very unstable person, should they really bring a child into this world? How would you feel growing up knowing your mom was a mess and didn't want you? I know some people who have been adopted by great families, but that doesn't always happen. And if a woman is pregnant as a result of rape, should she have to keep reliving it for nine months? I guess it is a personal decision. I couldn't ever do it, or fully understand anyone's reason, but going through it is painful and punishment enough in my opinion.

It is an undeniable biological fact that every abortion kills an innocent human being. Killing innocent human beings is wrong. It's not complicated. By the time most women know they are pregnant (3 weeks after conception), their baby's heart is already beating. Virtually no surgical abortions are committed before 6-7 weeks. By that point, the baby has recordable brain waves, tiny fingers, and is beginning to move in the womb--hardly a clump of cells!
There is also evidence that babies can feel pain in the first trimester. At just 8 weeks after conception, if an unborn baby's palm is pricked, he will open his mouth and pull his hand away. An ultrasound of an abortion at 11 weeks shows the unborn child desperately trying to escape the suction instrument, as her mouth opens wide and her heartbeat doubles (see it at http://silentscream.org/video1.htm , part 3).

I am against abortion too i think it is awful. But in some circumstance i think it is the better option- drug addict mother, abusive parents, to young to look after a baby, rape victims. It is a very controversial subject and i would never dream of having an abortion but if i were raped i might feel completely different. I am glad it is an option for bad situations. But some people abuse the system and use abortion for birth control that is just not on.

I also wonder about the millions of children born into the world doomed to die of disease and starvation. I also wonder how many people who feel so passionately against abortion make efforts to adopt many of the unwanted ones. I do have strong questions about those issues that are largely ignored. I am the mother of a child that others would consider less than perfect, special needs I guess you could say. She is one of the lucky ones to have a family that cares for her. How do we weigh a wrong on one hand and ignore the other?
I also notice it very interesting how much hatred and judgement there are for women. Men have no liability? No one has this much venom for "deadbeat dads." No one says, if men would just close their legs, maybe there wouldn't be no foster homes. We can't be blind to the other 50% of the equation.
Let's focus on solutions, not blame and poison.

Ok good for you, so you dont agree with abortion. God also says that you shouldnt judge others, and that is exactly what you are doing. I am pro-choice. Would you rather have teenage girls have children they cant take care of them and dont have the means to take care of a child? Or what about an innocent woman who was raped and because of that got pregnant? No abortions should not be used as birth control but there are some situations that I understand why a woman would choose to have one.

Totally against it. I don't think that there's a good reason for an abortion. It's not only against my religion but like you said it's MURDER. And in my opinion there's way to much of that as there is so why kill a young defenseless human. Especially since they had no say about being conceived. It is not their fault so why kill them.

I agree with you. I cannot understand how people can justify killing another human being...and better yet one that was created in your own womb. It is sickening that people use this as a form of birth control. It really upsets me to even think about. I just feel that the life of that baby is not yours to take!
