Solicitors call my house trying to sell something or ask me to make a donation to some organization.

By the time that they are finished harassing me, i have agreed to send $17.00 to the State Troopers Organization.

Why am I such a push-over? Why cant i just tell them NO!!

Does anyone else do this??

No, I hand the phone to my hubby who pitches a sale back at them. Usually a bird dog or a 79 Plymoth. It's hilarious!

sorry, no I don't fall for them. You are not a push over, you are just to interested in what strangers have to say to you.
Remember, you pay for the phone in your house not the solicitor, Tell them your time is valuable, and ask for their credit card numbers, or do like me.
I usually change the subject quite successfully to something more interesting, sometimes with a question I read on here.
Pick a few things you read in polls and Surveys and write them down, and save them for that rainy day.
Once you have the upper hand, you will remember to say oh, I will have to call you back, because the it is dinnertime here.
Goodluck.

There is a way to solve this kind of harassment. Tell them that you make donations to charitable organisations by direct debit each month. But be prepared not to tell them what charities, that's something you would like to keep private. However, if I'm in a bad mood I'll start asking them if they've found Jesus yet.....

If you want to throw them off. Ask what percentage of the money they collect is actually going to the charity that they are calling about. I bet they have no clue. I did this recently and they gave me a number to call and check. Just say you don't feel comfortable until you have all the information you need, to make sure that they are getting what they deserve. Good LUck.

I had some "friends" at the local watering hole who worked the donation phone lines for the Cops and Kids (or something like that). I will never donate to a cop organization again!

Now I just don't answer the door. Or answer the phone - God Bless caller ID

I suggest installing a peephole if you haven't got one (and if you do have one, for Pete's sake use it)! Really - Pete insists!

I don't donate money but sure like to spend my time. GEez I always end up answering a poll or survey they are chattering on about. I could be 2 minutes late for work and I'd be there yes NO sure why not, for another hour.

Not over the phone, but when they knock on the door it's very hard but I just tell them now I am very busy and don't have the time to talk to them and politely hang up or close the door.

No I never send money in the mail. I just tell them that I only give to local charities or organizations.

Nooo resist the power hang up!!! You are going to end up losing a lot of money. If you want to donate to a charity choose a trusted charity that you want to donate to not a charity that persuades you to donate to them.

Nope....I feel guilty when I dont give but I never do....I always say very nicely but FIRMLY as soon as they identify them self that I am sorry but I do not have any money for donating at this time and they always say thank you have a nice day or evening.....I am not rude but I do not let them waste their time or mine with their long spiel
