I am writing a paper for my class and need help. I need to know the correct MLA format for a self-created poll. I think you are supposed to use the title, date given, date results were found, and the number polled, but i have no idea in which order. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i just need it for the bibliography not a whole paragraph...it was a required part of our paper so the credibility doesnt matter... she just wanted us to conduct a poll

You need to 1) state what you're trying to determine (The Question)
2) state what you believe to be the answer (The Hypothesis)
3) state what group you are polling (how many people & their ages)
4) report each person's answer to the Question (include each person's name)
5) make a chart reflecting the answers (as they agree or disagree with your hypothesis) - OR - show what percentage of the people polled agree or disagree with your hypothesis
6) show a conclusion based on the results of the poll (for example, "42% of respondents felt that today's students receive too much homework, as opposed to 23% who feel that the amount is just right and 35% who would prefer to get more" (or whatever the poll is on)
7) write a paragraph stating whether the poll bears out your hypothesis (or not).

I didn't know you could do that in MLA. I thought APA or ASA formats were better. Self-reporting is a problematic area. Testing effect ring a bell? Unless, your research has been peer reviewed in the form of a literary journal...good luck with the credibility issue. Can you explain a few methodology questions? Was your research qualitative or quantitative in nature. From what I read, you performed a cross-sectional study. Did you do any statistical work??? Are you only providing frequency results? What's the statistical significance of your research?
