How, why, and do crab claws come off?

it always happens to mr. krabbs on spongebob and on an episode of AFV this guy put a crab on his nipple and the crab fell off but the claw stood on his nippl. but yeah

Crabs lose their claws when they get into battles with other crabs.

They also lose them real fast when I go out to a restaurant and order them for dinner.

All the easier to dip them in melted butter !!
