Well, if they start taking drugs, and you have proof. You, as a parent, have a RIGHT and a RESPONSIBILITY to put their little butts in rehab. So, you do have control. Unless they are 18 or over. Obviously, if they are giving into peer pressure, then they are not mature enough to make that decision. Also, if it gets too bad, then, get the police involved. Some time in juvie might help. They would have to go before a judge and explain their actions. Then the judge could order rehab and they really wouldn't have a choice in the matter. I hope they are only threatening these actions and really are not planning on going through with it. Sounds like they are manipulating you. Tough love. Sometimes it's the only solution.

HI Im sure it is going to be very hard to stop teenagers when the have in there i want to this! I remember when i was younger. Peer pressure is huge. No drug is safe. All stuffs your mind. I hope that with education you can try to teach them the side effects, maybe show them some grosum pictures of kids when OD or behaviour that comes with it. Im not sure. Maybe get brouches from doctors or health clinics. But you keep at trying. Thats Great that you care enough to ask for advice. I have a 5 years to go till my are teenagers and i am concerned for there well being when pressured by kids. But i hope i will give them enough education to deal with it.
Your a great mum for asking for advice!!!

All recreational drugs work on the reward system in the brain. Different drugs have different effects on neurotransmitters, some deplete them, others upregulate receptors, and others down regulate receptors. No recreational drugs are safe, and all cause changes within the brain. New research shows that drug use actually has an effect on genes and gene expression and once changed the genes do not change back if drugs are discontinued. Teach your kids how to get natural enjoyment out of life.

Why on earth would you think ANY drugs are safe? They are illegal for a reason ya know? Peer pressure isn't as powerful if the kids have a strong family.

I am so sorry to hear you are just planing on giving up on your teenager. I think you need to make your mind up tough love or watching your child walk all over you and then maybe overdose on drugs because you couldn't get the courage up to take the upper hand he or she will thank you some day.

You shouldn't let your kids take drugs no matter what. If you do, you could end up losing them. Try other things that they like to do. Try to do your best to keep them occupied. No drug is safe no matter what people say. They are all the same. Take it from someone who knows.

None, they are all illegal for a reason. By the way, you are the parent, you are in control, if they say they are going to take drugs regardless of what you say, then you can either say, alright, then get out of my house, or force them into counceling. You don't have to put up with that crap from your kids, it's ridiculous you are letting them walk all over you. I sure wouldn't put up with it.

I am one who thinks that marajauna should be legalized, so I obviously think that it is a pretty harmless drug. That being said, it is absolutely for altering your state of mind which in turn alters your decision making process, which can in turn put you in harm. No you have never heard of anyone od'ing on joints, but I have heard of people being hit in cars by people who are smoking pot. It is dangerous to do, just as drinking and driving is dangerous. No I have never heard of anyone od'ing on LSD, but I have been in a car full of people driving while tripping and going 20 on the highway, because their sense of time and motion was so distorted that they thought they were flying down the road ( yes this was me), anything that alters your state of mind is dangerous because it can make you make decisions that you normally would not make. Just because you can;t OD on it, does not mean that it doesn;t put you and the people around you in danger.

well you need to set some ground rules. ground them, put bars on their windows do whatever it takes to stop them, they'll thank you in the long run. make them switch schools so they can make new friends and get away from the bad ones. You need to be able to have some control over your kids and they also need to know their boundaries. you should have had the drug talk with them earlier.
