ok, so we just moved our horses to a new pasture, it's wonderful except right infront of where the barn and stall entrance is is about a 20 by 10 muddy area (it's sorta downhill ) and it's pretty much soggy (were talking 2 feet deep) year round cause it's shaded.
any idea of how to rid the muck?

The soil is too moisture absorbent .Dig it out and replace it wih a sandy soil or gravel. If it is downhill, also add drainage to help water drain from the area.

Could you drop a load of gravel on it and compact it? or You may have to dig out the muddy stuff and replace it with a heavier type soil.

About 10 yards of sand ought to help.

Try lay hay down or making it a stone or gravel area.

gravel. Put lots and lots of gravel down. It will take a lot because a lot will sink into the mud, but if you have the time and money, it will work.
