Either way, I feel sorry for the boy as he grows up with either name.

Are both names special or were they just made up? One good thing is that by the time he goes to school, every child there will have an odd name!
I like both names. I think they both sound like good boy names. Actually they could probably be considered either gender names. But most unusual names these days are.
How about Rye William Cortland? I'm a big fan of more than one middle name! That's another really popular thing these days.
If you can't agree on a name once it comes right down to it, then just do the next best thing- pick a Bible name! :)
Have fun with the baby!!!

Of the two options I like Cortland best personally (Rye just smacks too much of bread; but that could be just me cause I worked in a bakery for years!). There are many towns named after various Cortlands and the name just sounds strong. What about William Cortland?
Good luck and congratulations! :D

Rye, to many bad nicknames from Cortland. Plus Cortland sounds to girly, no offense. Rye seems cute and you don't hear it too much. Congrats on you baby!

Personally, I dislike both. Rye? C'mon! People are going to tease him for the rest of his life! And Cortland makes me think of a BasketBall court.
