There are many children here in America who go throughout the formative years of their lives unloved and uncared for while they are processed like chattle through a system based more on efficiency than humanity.

What can we do to help make sure that they get into loving homes?

The best way to help an abused child is to offer help and support to the parents. I was a child protective services social worker for years. The parent of every abused child I contacted was welcomed the help. None wanted their child to keep being hurt. These parents were at the end of their emotional rope and needed assistance. Less than 2 in 10 families needed to have the children removed from the home. Contact child protective services at county welfare again regarding the child your concerned about.

1) Take some of them into your own home;
2) Volunteer / make donations to the programs and schools where these kids are;
3) Contact your politicians and local news agencies and get the word out!

I think too often we think that the system is absolute, we sleep beter knowing that 'someone' is taking care of it but as you have illustrated it is not always the case.

The best way is to take an individual proactive position. Saving one life will matter a life time to that one life.

People you can do 2 things to help with this problem. Adopt a few kids and make sure that women who do not want children have more access to birth control and abortion clinics.

Unless you want to take it on , on your own there is nothing we can do except pray for them and be sure to spread love in all areas of our lives . Nothing that we FIGHT will go away . When we fight we give the problem energy to grow . So I will just pray for more loving families .
