The tattoo was a non-descript pattern of navy and cream and from a distance looked like they were tights. I do not have any tattoos nor do I want any. In my dream, I was pleased but then had second thoughts when I thought of the permanence, especially when wearing a dress or shorts and my parents were horrified! (I'm married and 40)

I'm not sure what area of your life this would be in, but it sounds like you have a big decision to make (or perhaps you will soon?) and you are afraid of the repercussions of this decision. It is not something that you NEED to make a decision about any more than you needed to get a tattoo, but it will be something that 'seems like a good idea at the time'.
Dreams are an insight into our subconscious mind. There are universal symbols through out our culture and I use these symbols to tell people what their dreams mean. Tattoos are very powerful, spiritually. However, because there was no specific symbolism that you remember, this isn't the specific 'tattoo' dream. You don't want to get a tattoo IRL, so that tells me that this dream isn't about TATTOOS, but the concept behind a tattoo (making a big decision that is permanent that people, such as your parents, will have a strong opinion about)

I think it is just a dream like any other dream with no significance. But if you want it to be, maybe your mind might be troubled by the problems women expect in the muslim word today. Nothing to fear if you are not a muslim anyway. I think we talk a bit too much about them these days and not enough about us, of other religions. Smile.

In my opinion, it could mean that you are ready for a change, you are ready for somethng wild and crazy to happen and for a bit of excitement. But part of you is holding back because you are scared of the possible outcomes and are nevous about taking a chance.

Just guessing here, but a tatooe is a mark of something permanent, its also a mark. So I would say something inyour past scarred you permanently and is still bothering you.
