When you're looking at "electricity", you're observing a physical change that suggests movement of electrons (which are negatively charged) in one direction towards an area which is relatively positively charged.

So, when you look at lightning, you're seeing the light caused by air heated up by the passage of several electrons. Because such a huge number of electrons are present, the ground is (relative to the region of lightning) positively charged, hence the electrons go there.

So, um, yes I guess it is attracted.
