I live on long island. I need the money. I'd rather do this in person than on the internet because i need the money right away. I'm not even sure how much it's worth but it's an electric guitar. it's gotta be worth at least 200. what do you suggest I do? cold call every music store in the area? how do i know if i'm being ripped off? or, how can i find the value of my guitar?

Check with a local Guitar Center for value first. But, don't expect any store to give you high value, they have to mark it up for resale and want to have room for 30-40% to cover carrying costs (cash out of pocket), space, and profit.

Well first try to find out the true value of it then if you feel like your getting riped off at like a local music shop try and sell it on eBay.
its very easy to use so don't worry just follow the instructions.
