can not get the exhaust to go onto the onto my bike,will not line up to bolt holes on back of bike

Do you mean a slip-on or full exhaust system? Also are you sure the exhaust was meant for that model bike? Hard to say without more description.

It might be the wrong exhaust for that bike. Get your money back from where you bought it.
Or you might not be installing it properly. With the pipes off the bike -
--Using new exhaust gaskets, insert the headers into the exhaust ports.
--Install the clamps and nuts/bolts (don't tighten yet, leave them loose).
--Line up the muffler clamp and install the mounting hard ware (finger tight).
--Won't line up? - The pipes aren't for that bike.
--Tighten the header clamps.
--Tighten the muffler clamp.
