No. Horses all breeds sleep with eyes closed. They however will sleep standing up, and some times will lay down as well.

I've never seen it, but in the several times I've been to my friend's house, a few of her horses will be napping in the sun, eyes closed, and other members of the herd standing around them "keeping watch" just like they would do if they were wild.

They close their eyes when they sleep. They can kind of "zone out" like we do, but no, they keep them closed for sleep.

My dog does. It's freaky. Her eyes roll back and everything.
They might be able to. I know that dolphins do. They keep one part of their brain awake and leave one eye open so they can see danger.
