Madam. Actually a palindrome can be either a word, a phrase, a sentence, etc., as long as it meets the basic definition of reading the same both forward and backward.

the words madam, dad, mum, mom, racecar, malayalam are all paölindromes which means that they are spelt the same from front and back.
spell racecar front to back and c that its spelt the same back to front.
