braxton hicks are never consistant. i had them the last 3 weeks i was pregnant but they would only come at night. It sounds like your in labor but its not active. because i dont think u dialate with braxton hicks?? not sure though. Just try and relax. hot baths help relax your body and will soften your cirvex and bones for the labor.

It could be braxton hicks or it could have been real contractions that stopped. It is not uncommon for labor to start and stop (wax and wane) for a few days before the "heavy duty" labor hits. I wouldn't take too much stock in a doctor thinking you will go early. My doctor said that with baby 3 too. I walked around between 2 and 3cm for over a month, baby was induced after my due date. Baby will be here before you know it and you will suddenly feel totally unprepared, no matter how prepared you feel now. I go through this every time, the anxiety to have baby HERE and in my arms. Easier said than done, but relax and enjoy this last little bit. :)

Braxton Hicks contractions are the uterus's way of exercising to be ready for the work of labor and birth. Once you get to be 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after your due date, they change the name from braxton hicks to false labor. Still the same, just changed the name. True labor, the contractions won't stop, in fact they will get longer, stronger and closer together as time goes by. You may have days to weeks yet before you go into true labor. Don't sit around waiting, keep busy and enjoy these last days of freedom, baby's take a lot of work once they are outside your body.

Just wait. It may have been Braxton Hicks but more than likely, you're in labor. Just because it doesn't hurt does not mean it's not happening. Same thing happened to me and I proceeded to lie down on the couch and enjoy a movie and "voila" my water broke; a sure sign. Don't fret or get panicky. It's going to happen in its own time. As long as baby's alright, you've contacted your physician, and someone's with you at all times, stop worrying and try to rest up for the trial ahead!

It doesn't really matter unless your water breaks. Then it's time. Until then, try to relax. You could keep a journal of how far your contractions are. Just write down the time you have one and for how long. Don't go to the hospital until your water breaks because they won't admit you until then.
