no because your license not only permits you to drive a motor vehicle but it provides law enforcement with proper identification.

Driving without license is punishable under the law. However, you can still drive until a police officer flagged you down or when you are involved in an accident.

I'm not sure about in NY, but I drive around without my license all the time. I know my driver's license number by heart (it will never change) so when I get pulled I tell them that I forgot my license at home and then tell them the number. They never give me tickets unless I'm going like 95mph. <---That was only once and I got the ticket dropped.

It depends upon the state. In California it is illegal not to have your identification with you at all times. However, that law is being ignored because the state has 3 million illegal aliens.

You MUST have your license with at ALL times if you are behind the wheel of a vehicle.
They should not have to "just look it up"....It is YOUR responsibility to follow the law.

Depends on what you mean as "on your person". It is OK for a woman to have it in her purse, which is technically not "on her person". But in the car and accessible to show to an officer who stops the car.

Other than that, the driver of a vehicle has to have it "in their possession" while operating the vehicle.

No its not ok because they use that for identification, and you can get a ticket and arrested for driving without a license

No. You must have your license on you or you can be charged with driving without a license.

In PA you have 24 hours to produce the license....yes, they can just "look you up"

no, it is not legal, you have to have your actual drivers license on you when you drive.

They can check and see, but there is a specific law that says it is to be carried,

They may not give you a ticket but they can.
