Indian mythology as well real history has many examples of love stories. Adarsh bpurush Ram met, for the first time, Sita in puspa vatika and fell in something called love at first sight. we have other examples as that of Krishna-Radha, Prirthviraj-Sayukta etc.Have we got any day to celebrate.

"Karva Chauth" When a wife prays for her husbands healthy life and his success. She fast for the whole day, sacrificing her hunger, her thirst in order to please god and answer her prayers. The stay awake till the moon shows. Then it's only after seeing the husbands face does the wife drinks water and eats 'prasad' of her husbands hands. A romantic night I can say, when your lady looks at you, you feed her, you get some gifts for her.

I don't say it's comparable to valentines day. The reason people celebrate valentines day today is to please someone with whom they wanna spend their life. The reason for 'Karva Chauth" is to please someone who has already dedicated his/her life to you. The former is for desire, the later to express gratitude...

From what I've read, Valentine's Day goes against Hindu beliefs and is boycotted thorughout India. It's viewed as a Western holiday. Read for yourself:

VALENTINE DAY CELEBRATION IS A LEGALISED CLUB CULTURE ALLOWED IN THE STREETS OF WESTERN COUNTRIES. THERE IS NO SUCH EQUAL IN INDIAN CULTURE.
