Go to the Post Office and tell them you want to stop your mail while on vacation. You have to fill out a form.

When you speak with the postal clerk make sure you get their name because when I placed my items on hold back in Florida someone took the hold slip off and everything went back to my old address instead of my new address when I moved here to Texas.
The Texas employees have been great and I've never had any issues here. The best time to go is in the middle of the day. Try to avoid going when they first open up or when they are about to close.
