my cousin is worried her daughter is about to start puberty, there is signs of her breasts develpoing and she also has a bit of pubic hair starting, the this is her daughter is 7 1/2. I s this possible, we are hoping not as she is a baby. please anyone who knows id like to know.

Unfortunately, yes she IS starting puberty. If she is starting to develop breasts and pubic hair that is the sign that she is starting puberty. However, it does not mean that her period will come now. Even though she has started these other signs, her period could come in a few years or even later. So, sorry to tell you that because most certainly she is just a baby still. As an Ob/Gyn nurse we saw girls as young as her who did start thier periods. I think it's horrible for such a young girl to enter puberty so young but just don't treat it with a negative attitude or she will pick up on that and this will be hard enough for such a young child to have this.

Girls have been trending towards earlier development for years now. Remember that breasts and hair normally develop 18 months to 2 years before a period. That would put her around 9 or 10. It is early, but not excessively so. I got my period on my 12th birthday. My younger sisters were 11 and 10 and a half. See a doctor if she is truly concerned, but it sounds like she is just an early bloomer.

It can start at any age it depends on the person if you think you are or your child take the child to the doctor and get a professional opinion.

Well u know what with the sighns you say she has she has already started but she probally wont have anything major for 2 more years.

she could be a early developer
ive known girls to start at the age of 9 maybe she will start her period a little later bt her bodys growing now

well I think she really needs to ask her pediatrician, that is pretty young.Ive heard of girls starting at around 10 or so.

on average 12-13... but my friend did RIGHT when she turned 8.. its possible! it stinks but possible!
