I usually say "honey"
I call strange dogs this and the children I babysit--they all look alike how am I supposed to tell them apart?

I get waitresses that call me that and I want to tell them that I ain't there hun but I'm to shy

Down here in Australia its the standard "mate" can be used for both sexes.. just plain old G'Day Mate,, never gets a negative reaction

No not really. I especially hate calling anyone dear, as I hate that people saying that to me.

Nope.........I did when I worked at an answering service & my boss told me I could be in trouble for it, I said why? She said they call it "Sexual harrasment" yeah whatever!
